Description: 

The talk orients the veterinarian to the use of dot plots to evaluate the hematology results of their patients. Emphases is on red blood cell (RBC) and white blood cell (WBC) indices to better characterize anemia and toxic changes, respectively. This presentation uses selected cases that clearly demonstrate the utility of the dot plots.

Speaker Bio
Dr. Couto graduated from Buenos Aires University, Argentina, in 1976. He spent 5 years in private practice as a small animal practitioner and completed a clinical oncology residency at the University of California, Davis. He coauthored the textbook Small Animal Internal Medicine and has over 350 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on oncology, hematology, and greyhound medicine. He served as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine and received numerous teaching and service awards during his 30 years in academia. He now provides consulting and educational services through Couto Veterinary Consultants in Hilliard, Ohio.
