Description: 

This talk will provide a practical regionally specific approach to vector-borne disease diagnosis and management. Topics include review of test methodology and interpretation, expanding distribution of various vector-borne diseases and the veterinarian’s role in One Health, enhancements in screening tests, as well as treatment and monitoring. The importance of routine laboratory results in determining the need for therapy and assessing response will be addressed. An update on vector-borne and retroviral disease in cats will be provided.

Dr. Saxon, a graduate of Iowa State University, practiced in the San Francisco area until 2007 and has also owned an intensive care unit in a specialty referral practice in Washington, D.C. He has been an IDEXX Reference Laboratories internal medicine consultant since 1997 and is a coauthor of Manual of Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care Medicine.
