Description:
Renal disease progression can be managed through proper dietary support using nutrient management. Practitioners will learn how early identification, International Renal Interest Society (IRIS) staging, and choosing the appropriate nutritional options can slow renal disease. We will also discuss tips and tricks for difficult patients and assistance with long-term management.

Speaker Bio
Dr. Saker is currently an associate professor of nutrition, director of the Nutrition Program, and service chief of the Health and Wellness Center at North Carolina State University-College of Veterinary Medicine (NCSU-CVM). She received her MS in animal nutrition from Clemson University and her DVM from the University of Georgia. Following 5 years in mixed-animal general practice, she completed a PhD in nutrition and a clinical nutrition residency at Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. She spent 12 years there as a clinical nutritionist and research professor before moving to NCSU to initiate a nutrition program at the veterinary school in 2007.
