Description: 

This presentation will be a discussion around preventive care as a tool for optimizing health and longevity in pets.  Topics will include what preventive care consists of, age-appropriate assessment, the benefits of patient-specific information that can be trended over time and strengthening the vet-patient client bond.  Updated healthstage-guidelines for dogs and cats will be reviewed.

Jonas Vaitkus, DVM, joined IDEXX as a Professional Services Veterinarian supporting the Philadelphia Region.Jonas earned his bachelor's degree in Organismal Biology (minor in Chemistry) from Salisbury University in 2008, where he also played varsity basketball as team captain.
He went on to receive his DVM from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013. He has worked as an associate and Chief of Staff veterinarian with Banfield, and as a Partner DVM with Heart + Paw Northern Liberties, a hospital he opened in Philadelphia. His professional interests include exotic medicine, dentistry & oral surgery, and dermatology.
Outside of work, Jonas enjoys basketball, golf, fishing, camping, hiking, homebrewing, and building his own terrariums and vivariums. He lives in the Philadelphia area with his wife Katie, daughter Julieta, newborn son, and an exotic crew of pets including a Severe Macaw, day geckos, and poison dart frogs.
