Chronic diarrhea is one of the most common and frustrating presenting complaints in veterinary practice. While gastrointestinal disease is often suspected, a wide range of systemic conditions can cause GI signs, making accurate diagnosis challenging. This talk takes an expansive, practical look at the chronic diarrhea patient—whether canine or feline—drawing on updated guidelines and current research.

Dr. Saxon, a graduate of Iowa State University, practiced in the San Francisco area until 2007 and has also owned an intensive care unit in a specialty referral practice in Washington, D.C. He has been an IDEXX Reference Laboratories internal medicine consultant since 1997 and is a coauthor of Manual of Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care Medicine.
