Dr. Melanie Ellis is a UC Davis–trained veterinarian with more than 20 years of experience in small animal practice, focusing on feline medicine. Her background includes corporate veterinary medicine, large practice management, and veterinary technician education. She currently serves as the Professional Services Veterinarian for Northern California at IDEXX Laboratories, supporting veterinary teams in delivering high quality, diagnostics driven care.

Dr. Block is the founder of Bollinger Canyon Animal Hospital, an award-winning small-animal practice. She earned her BS in animal science in 1984 and her DVM degree in 1988 from the University of Missouri. Her veterinary interests are the human-animal bond, pain management, dentistry, service-animal medicine, animal behavior, and encouraging pet parents to adopt ongoing preventive care and wellness for their pets. She
is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association, California Veterinary Medical Association, Contra Costa Veterinary Medical Association (former executive board member), International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management, and American Association of Feline
