Description:
This session provides a comprehensive overview over the diagnosis of pancreatitis in dogs and cats. Clinical signs of both acute and chronic pancreatitis will be discussed. Various imaging modalities will also be discussed. Emphasis will be placed on various assays for serum lipase measurements—both enzymatic assays that measure serum lipase activity as well as immunologic assays that measure serum pancreatic lipase immunoreactivity. The clinical usefulness of cytology and histopathology will also be briefly discussed.

Speaker Bio
Dr. Steiner received his veterinary degree in 1992 and his DrMedVet degree in 1995 from the Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich, Germany. He currently serves as a Distinguished University Professor, as the Dr. Mark Morris Chair of Small Animal Gastroenterology and Nutrition, and as the director of the Gastrointestinal Laboratory at Texas A&M University.
