Description:

Acute pancreatitis is common in dogs and the clinical presentation can vary widely. Diagnosis of pancreatitis can be challenging in dogs and requires integration of clinical, imaging, and clinical pathology findings. However, measurement of serum pancreatic lipase plays a central role in diagnosing pancreatitis in dogs. While some dogs have mild clinical disease and recover with minimal supportive care, early prediction of severity of the disease is often not possible and patients with initially mild disease can quickly progress to multi-organ failure and death. This session will gives an update on the diagnosis and management of pancreatitis in dogs.
