Shelly Vaden will present an overview of the available biomarkers for diagnosing and staging chronic kidney disease (CKD). Attendees will get a review of the recommendations for managing risk factors associated with progression, including hypertension, secondary mineral disorders, and anemia.

Dr. Shelly Vaden is a Professor of Nephrology and Urology at the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine, USA. She graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, did an internship at Cornell University and a residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine and PhD at North Carolina State University. The focus of Dr. Vaden’s scholarly and clinical activities has primarily been diseases of the kidney and lower urinary tract of dogs and cats, and she has extensively published in this area. Dr. Vaden is a founding member and President of the American College of Veterinary Nephrology and Urology, a member and President of the International Renal Interest Society Management Board, and a Diplomate of the ACVIM.
