Currently I am an anatomic pathologist at IDEXX Reference Laboratories working virtually from Ruckersville Animal Hospital in Ruckersville, VA. I live in Ruckersville with my husband, 3 children, 2 cats, bees, chickens and ducks. I have been with Idexx since February 2012. Prior to that I spent 18 months at the University of Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory as an assistant professor in anatomic pathology. While in Wisconsin I attended bi-monthly ocular pathology rounds hosted by Dr. Dubielzig, studied from the COPLOW ocular pathology archives, and collaborated on ocular pathology research projects. I have a double bachelor’s degree in Animal and Poultry Science, and Biology, that I received in 1998 and 1999 from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, VA, as well as a Master’s degree in Veterinary Medicine - Animal Nutrition, examining the effects of antioxidant status and stress on leukocyte micromineral concentrations and antioxidant enzyme expression in weanling calves (2002). I graduated from veterinary school in 2006 from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine with a focus on equine and food animal diseases. I completed an anatomic pathology residency program at the University of Kentucky in 2009, and became board certified in anatomic pathology in 2011. I am licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Virginia. I have multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals, and present regularly in many regional and national meetings. Currently I am developing a subspecialty in ocular pathology, but I have also published on cardiac developmental abnormalities in calves, and mammary neoplasia in mares. My top areas of interest are ocular pathology and reproductive pathology. In my spare time I like to garden, hike, read, and play with my family, chickens, and ducks!
