The benefits of routine fecal testing for parasitic worms in dogs is being increasingly recognized. There can be confusion however, about which tests to use and under what circumstances. By understanding the tests available and the parasites involved, we can integrate testing as an invaluable part of our worm control strategies. ESCCAP has recently updated its parasitic worm guidelines for Europe and CAPC continues to provide advice for control in North America. This presentation will examine current advice and how it might be implemented in practice.

Dr. Ian Wright is a practicing veterinary surgeon, veterinary parasitologist, and co-owner of The Mount Veterinary Practice in Fleetwood, England. As Chairman of ESCCAP, he plays a leading role in developing evidence-based guidance on companion animal parasite control. With over 130 peer-reviewed publications and extensive experience in research, clinical practice, and veterinary education, Dr. Wright is an internationally respected authority on parasite prevention, emerging parasitic threats, and One Health initiatives.
