Description:

Therapeutic apheresis — encompassing therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE), double filtration plasmapheresis (DFPP), cytapheresis, cytokine adsorption, and immunoadsorption — has emerged as a viable extracorporeal treatment modality in small animal medicine. This lecture provides a comprehensive, evidence-based review of the current veterinary literature, translational extrapolation from human medicine guidelines (ASFA 9th Edition, 2023; EXTRIP workgroup), indications by disease category, patient selection criteria, technical considerations, and the horizon of emerging applications.
